Hawken Is Coming To The Big Screen
Hollywood snaps up the film rights to Adhesive games' oh-so-pretty mech taw Hawken.
Deuce-month-old production company DJ2 Entertainment bought motion picture rights to the upcoming multiplayer shooter supported its dead stunning house trailer. According to DJ2's Dmitri M. Johnson, flyspeck independent outfit Adhesive Games was hesitant to leave up the rights until he worn out some time hobnobbing with the developers to prove his gamer credential. "I assumed somebody already got it because IT was thusly huge. Crowing name calling were chasing this," he aforementioned. "A-list directors and big arrive at agencies."
It's worth noting that Hawken is an entirely multiplayer affair, which doesn't really lend itself to character growth and compelling narrative, but don't vex, DJ2 seems to have that covered. While no author has been attached to the task yet, Johnson described early outlines of the the story atomic number 3, "Romeo & Juliet meets District 9" and creative director Dan Jevons arranged out a simple diagram summary:
It follows two untried pilots from separate clans faveolate against one another after a annihilative virus has covered most of the hard industrialized planet surface in toxic crystal.
They witness an event that suggests there is more to the nano-virus than meets the eye. Now the race is on to discover the computer virus' origins and true purpose earlier their several clans wipe each other out in a closing, climatic battle.
Okay, so it's not exactly Shakespeare (although it is, ostensibly, at least according to Johnson's earlier quote) it does seem the likes of more than enough justification for the average movie-goer to sit and gawp listlessly at giant robots patc they shoot at each other for an hour and a half.
